FIRST WORD!!!

Evie just said her first word...Mama!!!

Eric was getting her ready for a bath (I was setting up the bath) when Evelyn got fussy and started yelling "Mama!" and looking for me! YAY!! I'm going to try my damnedest to get it on video tomorrow. Although, she'll probably play an April Fool's joke on me and not say it again. LOL

So we'll root, root, root for the Yankees...

Evelyn's indoctrination into the New York Yankee fan club continued today. YAY for a win on Opening Day 2011!

Moving...backwards!

Sorry for the lack of daily posts, but Eric had a 3 day weekend and my sister is visiting right now...pictures to come later!

Evie's had an awful couple of days, but it paid off because her second tooth broke through today! So she now has her bottom front two teeth. She's also scooting herself backwards everywhere. The moment your put her on the floor in a sit, she immediately leans forward and can work herself onto all fours. Then, her back legs splay out and she pushes herself backwards. The video below shows what she can do. :-)

8 Months Old!

I can't believe Evie's already 8 months old! She's been trying to crawl constantly! Lots of tumbles have been happening, so lots of cuddling going on too. Evelyn's also responding to the sign language for "more" by opening her mouth during meals...so cute!

Hodgepodge

Evelyn is LOVING vanilla yobaby yogurt! It's so cute how she lunges at the spoon! She's also starting to pick up organic mango & sweet potato puffs. They're kind of like cheerios, but disintegrate even easier in her mouth. She tends to act like she's gagging to death, but will immediately try to eat another one. So great!

Evie's new favorite activity? Shredding napkins. She will go from screaming to completely content in seconds if given a napkin to tear. Of course, I'll only let her do this with a pacifier in her mouth, or else she'll try to eat the paper.

Finally, a couple videos of Evelyn feeding herself puffs. If you can see orange all over her face and bib, that's sweet potato.

A Tooth!

I'll put up some news pics later, but for now a quick update on how we're doing. :-)

Evie's first tooth came in Monday! Her bottom left front tooth finally erupted through. It's so darn cute, but very difficult (nay impossible!) to photograph. Poor baby has been MISERABLE though. We switched from baby tylenol to baby motrin and it seems to have helped. Plus, tons of cuddling, icy teethers, and plenty of time in the bathroom with the lights off and the fan blowing loudly to calm her. Evie's been up from 2am-5am the last two nights, so Eric and I have been taking turns with her. Oye, how did we survive the newborn days?!

Evie's eating solids again! She finally ate some carrots the other night and yesterday tried the yobaby brand of vanilla yogurt for the first time. She loved it! The cold probably felt really soothing on her gums.

Finally, she's not truly mobile yet, but Evie's pretty darn close. She starts off sitting and then lunges forward and gets three limbs in the crawling position. Her left leg always gets stuck underneath her and she hasn't figured out how to move it to where it needs to go. Eric and I were trying to help her maneuver herself, but then realized that we don't want a mobile baby yet! LOL

Food Strike: Day 7

For some reason, Evelyn's been on a solid food strike for about a week now. She doesn't want even her favorites! But her pediatrician said not to worry...yeah, right! We tried out her high chair for the first time today and she LOVED banging on the tray.




No, Evie's not crawling, but I can put her on her hands and knees and she'll hang out that way for a while. She even started rocking a little!

Awww, my sweet baby girl! Evelyn fell over while sitting on the floor today. Instead of fussing or trying to right herself, she put her head on the boppy! So sweet!
