Bathing Beauty
Evelyn and I started swim lessons this week! She's in Water Explorers, which is intro to the water for age 1-4. It's a nice small group and parents have to accompany their child, so lots of people to chat with. We've been working on splashing (Evie's a pro at this!), kicking, floating on her back, putting our face in the water, and jumping off the wall. We've modified some things for what Evie can do at this age, but she LOVES swim class! We also sing and swim lots of songs, like Hokey Pokey, Wheels on the Bus, and Itsy Bitsy Spider.

Tales of the Travelling Tot
A TON of pictures were promised and here they are! I'll put my comments above each photo. Enjoy!
*Oh, and Evelyn learned how to whistle since yesterday's post. Yes. Whistle.
Evie's flapping her hands so fast that you can't see them! That's my old high chair that my mom saved and just added a new pad. That thing is 30 years old and still looks great.

Hanging out with Aunty Kerry in the backyard.

I LOVE this picture of my happy little girl!

Evie's so dramatic. "Romeo, oh Romeo..."

...and now we're done being held.

The paparazzi is always taking pics of Evie!

While in CT, Evie and I met up with Carrie and her daughter Claudia at the UConn Dairy Bar. Yummm...the ice cream there is so incredibly yummy! Carrie and I know each other from many summers at camp and Claudia is 4 days older than Evie.
Checking each other out.

Watching a big dairy truck back up.

Gramma and Grampa threw an early first birthday party for Evie! She was so lucky to receive a ton of lovely clothes and toys. She also had her first cupcake. Well, she mainly tasted the frosting and none of the cake part. Then she smeared it all over her face.

All cleaned up!
My good friend Hillary came to the party with her daughter Claire. Claire is 2 days older than Evie. Hillary introduced me and Eric. <3

My step-cousins graduated from UConn and Grampa, Evie and I went to the combined graduation party at a local park. Evie had a blast looking at the other kids there and crawling in the grass.
Posing with Grampa and Great Uncle Ricky.

Mommy's friends Carol and Nick came over one day with their granddaughter Ava. Ava is 15 months old and too cute! Evie LOVES the play teapot set they bought her. Mom and Carol have been friends for over 40 years and went to nursing school together.

Let me out!

Another day, Evie and I went to Wickham Park with Heather and her twins, Jacob and Abby. Heather and I are friends from UConn. Her twins are 8 months old and too stinking cute! She also has a 5 year old daughter, Stephanie, but she was at pre-school during our outing. I couldn't complain about pushing Evie up the wicked steep hill because Heather had two babies in that double stroller!

Hanging out with Great-Gramma Gudlewski.

Awww, Evie decided to lay down on this big teddy bear.
Hanging out with Great Gramma Burns. Gramma Burns is in hospice care now, but she lit up every time we came to visit. Evelyn was so sweet and gentle with her! She was pulling the sheets up on Gramma's bed to play peek-a-boo and gave her very soft kisses. Gramma laughed several times too! It's hard seeing my gramma so weak, but I'm so incredibly glad her great-granddaughter made her happy.

Sneak preview of First Birthday pictures!
Evelyn had her first pickle at Rein's Deli!! It's a tradition for a kid to have their picture taken and placed on the Pickle Puss board. Evie LOVED sucking on the pickle. It was so cute to watch her gnaw.

That's all, folks!

Evie's SOOOOOO Big!
We're all back, safe and sound! My baby girl grew up so much in the last 2 weeks! I'm going to give a quick rundown of what Evie can now do and then post a million pics later. :-)
*climb upstairs
*play and initiate peek-a-boo by ducking behind a piece of furniture and then popping up with a HUGE grin
*give high fives
*stand up in the tub (not my favorite new skill)
*squirt water out of her ducky bath toys
*eat strawberries, scrambled eggs, and half-sour pickles
*make LOTS of funny sounds including kissy, trill like a cat's purr, blow raspberries, "doy" (rhymes with boy), and "bah-bah-bah"
*say "ducky" and "baby"
*stand with only one hand for support
*has 4 teeth! (ok, not a talent, but an accomplishment nonetheless!)
*put her arms in the air when we say, "evie's sooooo big!"

Quick Update
Well, Evie and I made it to CT safely and Eric made it to VA just fine. We're all settling into our routines for the next 2 weeks.
Evelyn's been a bit fussy because her top front left tooth is cutting through, but overall she's been her happy-go-lucky self. I took her to UConn yesterday, which was so fun. It was just a quick trip to the Co-op and Dairy Bar, but sometime this trip I'll take her for a walk around the horse, pig, sheep, and cow barns. We've also visited Great-Gramma Gudlewski and Great-Gramma Burns in the past couple of days. Evie was so cute and good for them! Tonight we're having pizza and cupcakes with my Aunty Carol and cousins. Should be a good (and LOUD) time!
I forgot to bring my camera cord, so no pictures until we get home. :-(
